The youth Entrepreneurship Symposium'10 (YES) is an initiative by the nEbO entrepreneurship committee. In its third year running, this symposium aims to introduce youths to entrepreneurship, and to provide a platform for youths to be engaged within the entrepreneurship community in Singapore.
This 3-day event will be sprinkled with motivating talks by prolific entrepreneurs, problem solving sessions by established companies, industry visits and networking opportunities. One highlight of the symposium is a mass entrepreneurship game which will simulate conditions of a real business world. For those who are here now, may start asking the question what exactly is YES 2010.
The Youth Entrepreneurship Symposium 2010 (YES 2010) is a conceptualized platform for youths to be engaged within the entrepreneurship community in Singapore. i.e. We aim to allow youths to take further action, to shape their dreams into reality. In essence, YES 2010 is going to focus on creating new youth entrepreneurs, and providing these youth with a framework to work with.
The programme for YES 2010 is therefore structured based on creating contact between youths and real time entrepreneurs. Our guest speakers are chosen based on the fact that they are prolific entrepreneurs, with a wide range of real industry experience. These people are entrepreneurs that are the role models and mentors of the youth today. Our guest speakers will therefore be speaking on a range of topics relevant to youths today and answer the question that many aspiring youth entrepreneurs have, "how do I make it big?". YES 2010 hence aims to inspire and educate youths on the spirit of entrepreneurship and the mechanics of being an entrepreneur.
YES 2010 unlike its predecessors has changed its focus from being simply a business plan presentation competition. This year, emphasis will be placed more on convincing potential investors, or in this case the judges that your business ideas are profitable and worth investing in. This will therefore push our participants to use their skill of conviction and body language convince, which better simulates real life scenarios.
Furthermore YES 2010 will focus more on encouraging participants to network. It has been said that your net Worth is your network. This statement is true indeed. We at YES 2010 want to bring forth the message that entrepreneurship is more than just technical know-how, but rather the art of human connections. Through YES 2010 our participants will understand that entrepreneurs do not bring resources together; they find people to bring resources together. In a nutshell, an entrepreneur needs to have a strong network of people in order to do what is needed to. So expect YES 2010 to have more opportunities for you to interact with real life entrepreneurs and with each other, for all you know one of you may be one of the big names of tomorrow.
In conclusion YES 2010 will be a fun-filled and enriching event for aspiring youth entrepreneurs to learn the ropes and start paving the road for their future in the entrepreneurship scene in Singapore.
